Up for grabs is a Colt 1849 Pocket James Buchanan revolver in .31 Cal. Serial number- 202461. According to a phone call with Colt, this revolver was Mfg in 1862. This revolver is in excellent condition and comes with the wood case, powder flask, and all pictured items. The top of the barrel is marked “Address SamL Colt / Hartford Ct.” The left side of the barrel assembly is marked with a “2”. All visible SNs are matching! This is an important Civil War-era Colt percussion revolver. The backstrap is marked Ja.s Buchanan. PLEASE NOTE: We are unsure of the history of the gun or why it is stamped with James Buchanan’s name. The time frame of the revolver matches with the ending time frame of his presidency. We assume that this pistol was later refinished due to its condition. Could this be James Buchanan’s revolver? Could it of been purchased and given to President Buchanan as a gift? Could it have later been stamped as a commemorative piece? All these options are possible and make this an amazing and rare collector’s piece!
The barrel is 6″ long and the bore is in great condition!
