Georgian Era Tower New Land Pattern Dragoon Flintlock Pistol

Georgian Era Tower New Land Pattern Dragoon Flintlock Pistol

$1,999.00

This is an original New Land Pattern Enfield Tower flintlock pistol. It has all original woodwork with brass fittings, including trigger guard with extended tang, fore-end block & cudgel butt. It has a heavy military hammer & captive steel ramrod. Captive ramrods or stirrup ramrods were fixed to the pistol frame and were used specifically by cavalry units during their time, helping to keep riders from losing their rods while reloading in the heat of battle.

It measures 15 ½” overall with a 9” round steel barrel and is chambered in .65 most likely. The action works as it should and the flint works producing sufficient amounts sparks. The lock plate is marked with the Enfield ‘Tower’ mark partially hidden by its safety bolt & has a WD arrow mark and Georgian Crown with Royal Cypher ‘GR’ (George Rex). The metalwork has even patina throughout. There is a substantial crack underneath the foregrip where the ramrod is stored. This was most likely due to the rod getting caught and being pulled forward, cracking the wood. Wear and tear congruent with age. The exact date of manufacture is uncertain but could be between 1800-1810 according to research. Bore has slight rusting inside and pitting is also present.
