For sale is a an Ithaca 1911A1 semi-automatic pistol in .45 ACP. Serial number-2092536. MFG: 1945. This pistol is in great condition for its age and comes with 1 magazine (No stamps on the mag). Stamps are: "FJA" Ordnance inspector’s mark of Col. Frank J. Atwood. Lt. Col. Frank J. Atwood was the U.S. Army Ordnance officer in charge of war production in the Rochester district of New York from 1942 to 1946 and both the Remington Rand and Ithaca factories were under his control. M1911A1s accepted during that time from those makers will have his FJA mark. Also "P" proof marks. The left side of the slide is roll-stamped with "ITHACA GUN CO. INC. ITHACA NY" in two lines. The creation of legendary firearms designer John Browning, the Model 1911 was the standard-issue sidearm of the United States military starting in 1911, served through WWI, WWII, the Korean War, and Vietnam War until it was replaced in 1986. Some US Special Forces still use them today. 1911s are highly sought after this is an opportunity to own one this is in awesome condition!
