Mauser 42 Luger Rig – 1940 –

Mauser 42 Luger Rig – 1940 –

$3,900.00

This is a very fine example of an original 1940 dated, “42 code” Nazi Mauser Luger rig. This Luger features a salt blue metal finish with checkered walnut grips. The chamber area is marked with the full date of 1940 with the new “42” code marking for the Mauser factory on the front toggle. The right side of the barrel extension has the early double “Eagle/ 655” proofs and the single “Eagle/ Swastika” firing proof, with both proof marks also on the top rear section of the barrel. The left side of breechblock is also marked with “Eagle and Swastika” test/acceptance proof.

The pistol is all original configuration with all parts matching (except for the magazines). The grips aren’t number stamped, but they’re both correctly “eagle/655” and are proofed and in excellent condition with no cracks or chips. The frame is all matching and correct, with “42” stamped on the toggle to denote it was made at the Mauser factory.

Included with this amazing Luger is a leather holster and two unmatching, but period, magazines. The holster is in a very delicate condition as the leather and thread are deteriorating. The top cover of the holster has torn off for this reason. There is some rust present on the magazine that was inside of the holster. Because of these facts, we believe this pistol was used actively during its early years. The wear and tear on the rig are congruent with age.

According to the seller, this Luger was brought back to the U.S. by his father during WWII and has been in their family collection ever since.
