For sale is a P08 Luger BYF 41 semi-automatic pistol in 9mm. Serial number – 9754. "U" Sn Suffix. Mfg. 1941. includes the case. All SNs appear to be matching except for the magazine, but the one magazine is time period correct with the same SN suffix. The other 2 magazines appear to be reproductions. We are not sure if it has been refinished or what the finish is. There is some pitting and finish wear as seen in the pictures. The Top of the toggle is marked with the Mauser code "byf", top of the chamber with the date code "41". Eagle/655 proofs and eagle/swaz military acceptance marked. "P.08" marked on left sideframe. This is a 1941 Pistole 08 military gun manufactured by Mauser. This piece is a 4 inch (100mm) 9mm Parabellum. ''41" dates are representative of the Luger accepted by the German military in 1941. In February 1941 Mauser changed from the 42 code to byf, with two-digit ''41" dates are representative of the Luger contract production accepted by the German military in 1941. The FXO on the magazine tells us that it was manufactured by C. G. Haenel Waffen-U-Fahrradfrabrik in the city of Suhl. The Eagle 37 is the German military acceptance stamp used at the Haenel Factory commonly called the Waffenamt. The P08 Luger is a toggle-locked recoil-operated semi-automatic pistol that was produced in several models and by several nations from 1898 to 1948. Captured Lugers were much prized by Allied soldiers during both of the world wars as war trophies and many were sent home to the United States.
