For sale is a Springfield Model 1898 Krag bolt-action rifle in .30-40 Krag. Serial number – 399027. Mfg Dated 1902. This rifle is in excellent condition considering its age. The rifle has a 30-inch barrel and the bore is in great condition! The Krag Model 1898 Rifle was the first smokeless powder repeating firearm adopted by the United States. Because U.S. smokeless powder manufacture was lagging, sufficient quantities of these arms were not available to national forces as war broke out with Spain.
