US Springfield Model 1816 / 1837 Civil War .69 cal

$999.00

For sale is a US Springfield Model 1816 / 1837 .69 cal ball with an 1837 Percussion cap conversion "Belgium Cone Conversion". This rifled musket is in good condition considering its almost 200 years old. Tight action, still functions normally. It comes with a sling, bayonet, and powder gauge. This .69 cal has the later and harder to find rifled barrel with a fair (typical) bore. Marked "1837" on the receiver (see photos) as well as other proof markings. Bayonet numbered "4731". Butt plate numbered "4598" and "L" and "1837". Ram rod numbered "4859".

The Model 1816 musket was originally manufactured at the Springfield and Harpers Ferry armories along with independent contractors between 1816 and 1844. Around 700,000 were made, more than any other flintlock in U.S. history. The Model 1816 was originally manufactured as a flintlock musket. Like many flintlock muskets, many of these were later converted to percussion cap (ordered by the US Govn't), as the percussion cap system was much more reliable and weather resistant. Please take note of the pictures and look over them. This model show's very little metal and wood finish wear. AN INCREDIBLE PIECE OF CIVIL WAR ERA HISTORY!
