For sale is a Spreewerk P38 WWII "CYQ" semi-automatic pistol in 9mm Luger. Serial number- 4275y. Mfg. in October of 1945. This pistol is in great condition for its age and comes with a magazine. All visible SNs appear to be matching. It also sports a short 3.75 inch barrel, we are not sure if the shortened length is original (unlikely) or was cut down by a Gunsmith post-war (more likely). The Waffenamt inspector at Spreewerk Grottau was assigned code WaA88. This Waffenamt stamp applied to Spreewerk produced P.38 pistols was an Eagle over 88 (e/88) which there are multiple of these stampings on the pistol. There is also an eagle/swastika military acceptance mark. Spreewerk production started in 1942 and the code was cyq. Metallwarenfabrik Spreewerk GmbH was a German weapons manufacturing company. Spreewerk produced a number of important weapons and components before and during World War II including 280,880 of the Walther P.38 pistol which was the standard service pistol of the German Heer.
