For sale is a Winchester 1885 Single-Shot rifle in .22 Short. Serial number- 125197. Mfg. 1908. This rifle is in fantastic condition for being such an old rifle. Often referred to as the Winder Musket after the acclaimed marksman Colonel C.B. Winder. The US Army made a special contract with Winchester for Winder Muskets in .22 Short for training purposes and they served the Army through WWI Training Dough Boys before shipping off to Europe. Manufactured circa 1908.

Standard blade front sight and Lyman receiver peep sight adjustable for windage and elevation. The left side of the barrel is marked with the two-line Winchester address/patent dates and "22 SHORT" at the breech, as well as the Winchester oval proof. "U.S./ordnance bomb" directly behind the hammer and the three line Winchester trade mark on the upper tang. Mounted with a smooth full walnut forearm with finger grooves and straight grip stock with a steel carbine buttplate and sling swivels.
