Belgian Muff Pistol – .68 Cal – Folding Trigger – Vintage CCW – Cap & Ball
This is a no reserve penny auction for a Belgian Muff Pistol in what we believe to be .68 Cal. This Muff is in good condition for its age and functions as intended. This Belgian percussion muff pistol was likely manufactured in the mid-19th century in Liège, Belgium. This pistol features the classic characteristics of a muff pistol: a folding trigger, finely engraved frame, and a short octagonal barrel. It was small enough to be concealed in a coat pocket or muff (a hand-warming accessory), making it a favored self-defense weapon for both men and women. The visible "ELG" proof mark in an oval confirms it was officially tested and approved at the Liège proof house, a requirement for all commercially sold firearms from the region. Affordable and widely distributed, pistols like this one reflect the growing demand for discreet, concealable arms in the pre-revolver era. Please note there is a crack in the left grip.
