Browning Superposed Lightning 2 Barrel Set – 12 Gauge – ALL MATCHING

This is a no reserve penny auction for a Browning Superposed Grade I O/U shotgun in 12ga. Serial number- 41187S5. This Superposed is in good condition and comes with a hardcase, snapcaps, and two matching barrels. One with a Broadway rib and one with a standard raised rib. This shotgun was manufactured in 1965 with a length of pull measuring at 14.5in.

What makes the Superposed unique from other models such as the Citori is that It was the last firearm to be designed by John Browning. After Browning's death, the design work was completed by his son Val A. Browning. Browning’s design took into account weaknesses in other designs in this configuration, specifically looseness in the breech. He reinforced the hinge mechanism in order to ensure tightness for the long haul. Browning went to Fabrique Nationale (FN) in Liege, Belgium with his design, after having great success with the Auto-5 earlier. Unfortunately, he wouldn’t get to see the success of the Superposed; John Browning died in 1926.

Please note that the clear coat finish on the stock appears to be spiderwebbing, see photos for details.
