Colt No.4 Lord Derringers Set Consecutive SNs – .22 Short – w/ Velvet Case!
This is a no reserve penny auction for a Set of Two Colt 4th Model Lord Derringers in .22 Short. Comes in a fitted red velvet case. Serial numbers- 30697D & 30698D. These derringers are in great condition with excellent bores! Both derringers are marked "MISS KITTY" on the backstrap. Lord Derringers have a gold plated frame, black oxide coated barrel and walnut grips.
With the advent of double-actions and semi-automatics, one would assume Colt was finished with single-shot Derringers. But the popularity of television westerns during the 1950s and ’60s inspired Colt to reissue the Thuer Derringer as the Fourth Model (made for Colt by Butler of New Haven, Conn., which later sold the guns under its own name) in .22 Short. Like the Third Model, it was loaded by placing the hammer on half-cock and pivoting the barrel to the right, which also ejected the cartridge. These pistols have minor finish wear commensurate with age and use. Please see the photos to assess the condition of this set for yourself.
