– Go look at the market for pre-war German combination guns (Bockbüchsflinte) or drillings. 95% of them are heavy, clunky, overbuilt monsters scaled on 12-gauge or 16-gauge frames. Finding a slim, lightning-fast over-and-under combination gun built on a true, scaled-down 20-Gauge frame is like finding a needle in a haystack. High-end collectors and traditional wingshooters actively hunt for 20-gauge German guns because the handling dynamics are unmatched.
– This isn't just any old German gun. It was built in June 1939. It cleared the Suhl proof house just two months before Germany invaded Poland and the entire industry was forcefully dismantled to make military weapons for WWII. You are looking at the absolute apex of golden-era German craftsmanship—Krupp Laufstahl fluid steel, a beautifully hand-scalloped receiver, fine traditional scroll engraving, and gorgeous walnut. To custom-order a bench-made gun of this caliber today would cost you north of $10,000.
– Unfortunately, this masterpiece suffered some damage in transit. The wrist is cracked, and the toe is chipped (pieces included).
– You have an opportunity to acquire or keep a museum-quality masterpiece hunting rifle. The metalwork is pristine, the bores are great, and the engraving is sharp. Fixing a stock is simple physics; replicating 1939 Suhl craftsmanship is impossible. Keep it, fix it, and own a legend.
