MATCHING Mauser 98K byf 44 – 8mm Mauser – Mod 98 – K98 – MFG 1944

This is a no reserve penny auction for a Mauser 98K bolt-action rifle in 8mm Mauser. Serial number- 21488. This WWII icon is in good condition for its age, and has a good bore. All visible serial numbers appear to be matching. The top of the receiver is marked "byf" the wartime code for the Mauser factory (Mauser-Werke AG, Oberndorf) and "44" for the year of manufacture.

This thing’s seen some things. I pulled the bolt back and I swear it whispered war stories in German. Chambers the mighty 8mm Mauser, which is basically a spicy metal burrito of recoil and noise. Every shot sounds like Thor slamming his car door. Accuracy? Let’s just say I can now sign my name on a target at 100 yards…in bullet holes. Wood stock smells faintly of history and gun oil. Feels like holding a museum exhibit that still wants to party. Great for target shooting, historical reenactments, and intimidating modern rifles with its sheer grandpa energy. Would definitely recommend—unless you're a deer.

As the photos show, a serial number is not seen on the receiver. After thorough research, we've found this is a well-documented occurrence for "byf 44 and 45" Mauser K98s produced late in the war.
