Mauser P38 – 9mm – MFG 1944 – RARE Waffen SS JUNKERSCHULE PRAG HOLSTER
This is a no reserve penny auction for a Mauser P.38 "BYF" semi-automatic pistol in 9mm. Serial number – 3165Y. Manufactured in 1944, this pistol is in great condition for its age with and includes an original leather holster and two magazines. This pistol features multiple Reichsadlers, WaA135, stamps and the Mauser BYF stamp.
It is believed that this pistol and holster were issued within the Junkerschule Prag, a Waffen-SS officer training center located in the Prague-Dewitz area. Junkerschulen cadets were taught to be adaptable officers who could perform any task assigned to them, whether in a police role, in a concentration camp, as part of a fighting unit, or within the greater SS organization. The holster bears an ink marking reading "SS Junkerschule Prag," and both the pistol and holster are dated 1944, placing their manufacture within the same wartime period. While there is no serial number on the holster to definitively prove original pairing, the matching production years, institutional marking, and absence of contradictory features support that these items were likely issued together.
The Mauser plant produced 323.000 P38 pistols during WWII and those pistols were stamped with the secret code BYF to indicate Mauser as the manufacturer. At the beginning of 1945 the secret code byf was replaced by the new secret code svw. The factory was conquered in april 1945 by the French. However the French did not stop production, they continued production of the P.38 for their own use until 1946. Please review photos carefully for exact condition, and to fully appreciate!
