MBAssociates – 13mm Gyrojet – 180gr – 5 Rounds – These jets are in shiny, fantastic condition and are likely the closest representation to what these would look like new in 1965! A Gyrojet is a hollowed copper projectile that is filled with rocket propellant and an added primer at the center of the base surrounded by four angled rocket nozzles. These angled nozzles allow the rocket to spin and ultimately achieve gyroscopic stability, thus the name Gyrojet. These rocket-powered slugs allowed for a caseless, self-contained ammunition that could achieve 1250 feet per second in maximum velocity, but only 60 feet per second of initial velocity out of the muzzle, meaning this ammunition picks up significant speed after it has been ignited. For example, the rocket's velocity slightly greater than Mach one, with about twice as much energy as the common .45 ACP round.
