PRE WAR FN Browning A5 – 12 Gauge – MFG 1929 – Auto 5 – w/ Case – C
This is a no reserve penny auction for an FN Browning A5 semi-automatic shotgun in 12 Gauge. Serial number – 82065. Manufactured in Belgium in 1929. It features a 29.5-inch barrel with a poly choke, 2 3/4 inch chamber, 14.5" length of pull, solid rib, round knob stock, and an early "suicide safety". It also includes a Browning leather canvas case and wood cleaning rods. These early FN-produced A5s can be very difficult to find in the United States since Remington produced the A5 for the American market during this time, known as the Model 11 and Model 11 Sportsman, and FN produced A5s for the European market.
Browning A5s are well built and if treated properly they can last many generations! The Browning Automatic 5, most often Auto-5 or simply A-5, is a recoil-operated semi-automatic shotgun designed by John Browning. It was the first successful semi-automatic shotgun design, and remained in production until 1998.
Please refer to the photos as handling marks and finish wear is present throughout. The shotgun appears to have been refinished, and cracks are seen on the forend and top of stock wrist.
