This rifle is in great condition especially considering the age of this old battle rifle but please be sure to check out all the photos to determine the condition of the rifle for yourself. Although the Springfield Model 1903 was the standard issue rifle of the US Army during WWI, the M1917 was the most common rifle carried by American soldiers during the war. The M1917 was designed to be sold to the British Empire during the First World War and is based on the Lee Enfield No.1 Mk III. When the US entered the war it was easy to produce Enfield Model 1914s chambered in .30-06 SPNG rather than .303 British. While tooling and production of the Model 1903 would take time to expand enough to meet demand for the war in Europe.
