Rock Island Arsenal M1903 – .30-06 – MFG 1920 – RIA 1903 – WWI – WWII
This is a no reserve penny auction for a Rock Island Arsenal M1903 bolt-action rifle in .30-06. Serial number- 358453. This M1903 is in great condition for its age with a pristine bore. After running a serial number look up, we believe that this rifle was manufactured sometime around 1920. The barrel is stamped with a flaming bomb proof and "1-30,"making it a 1930 production barrel. We believe this Rock Island is batch of rifles sent to Springfield during the inter-war period for re-arsenal. The M1903 Springfield, formally the United States Rifle, Caliber .30-06, Model 1903, is an American five-round magazine-fed, bolt-action service repeating rifle, used primarily during the first half of the 20th century. Rock Island manufactured 1903s in tandem with Springfield to arm US troops during WWI. After WWI the rifles received upgraded barrels produced just before or during WWII.
