Smith & Wesson 17-2 – .22 LR – S&W 17 K-22 Masterpiece Pinned & Recessed -C

This is a no reserve penny auction for a Smith & Wesson 17-2 revolver in .22 LR. Serial number – K729812. This revolver is in great condition for its age with tight lockup and the timing on. Features include a 6" pinned barrel with an excellent bore, recessed cylinder, and an adjustable rear sight. The grips are Checkered Walnut Target Stocks with the S&W gold medallions. These "coke-bottle" style grips are very comfortable for precision target shooting.

The Model 17-2 is a favorite for "understudy" training. Because it has the same weight, balance, and trigger feel as the .357 Magnum Model 19, shooters use it to practice their fundamentals without the cost or recoil of larger rounds. Serial Number search suggests this Revolver was manufactured in 1967. This was significant for the Model 17 because it was the final year of the -2 engineering dash. In late 1967, S&W moved to the 17-3.

Included with this Revolver is its original VPI (Vapor Phase Inhibitor) paper – Along with the Cosmoline seen throughout the revolver makes this a great collector grade piece – the bluing is original and the "case colors" (the rainbow-like finish) on the hammer and trigger are still vibrant. This is a 1967 Model 17-2 that has been very well preserved! This deserves to be in your Collection!
