Smith & Wesson Model 59 – 9mm – S&W – Nickel – Wonder Nine – C
This is a no-reserve penny auction for a Smith & Wesson Model 59 semi-automatic pistol in 9mm. Serial number – A471612. This pistol is in great condition and features an excellent bore! It comes with one magazine. This particular example has been finished in what appears to be nickel plating. The Smith & Wesson Model 59 is a full-size 9mm semi-automatic pistol introduced in 1971. It uses a traditional double-action/single-action (DA/SA) trigger system and a 14-round double-stack magazine, making it one of the first American-made high-capacity 9mm pistols.
An evolution of the Smith & Wesson Model 39, it kept the alloy frame and added increased magazine capacity. The Model 59 was widely adopted by U.S. law enforcement in the 1970s and early 1980s and helped pave the way for Smith & Wesson’s later second- and third-generation semi-automatic pistols. Today, it’s recognized as an important step in the development of modern service handguns and remains a collectible firearm.
