Turkish M1938 – 8mm Mauser – MFG 1944 – ASFA Ankara M38 – XLNT Condition

This is a no reserve penny auction for an ASFA Ankara K. Kale Mauser M1938 bolt-action rifle in 8mm. Serial number- 178416. Mfg. 1944. This rifle has a good bore and is in good overall condition for its age. This rifle's bolt has some mismatched serial numbers. Please see photos for accurate condition of firearm.

Turkey never really got rid of their old Mausers. They just rechambered them from 7.65mm to 8mm and performed some other minor upgrades to bring them up to spec. The rechambered rifles are obvious because they have a crescent-shaped cutout at the front of the receiver to allow loading the longer 8mm round from stripper clips. Eventually, Turkey started manufacturing their own rifles from the ground up, and these rifles (as is this example) are stamped K. Kale, and don't have the crescent cutout because they were built to be 8mm from the beginning.
