This is a no-reserve penny auction for a Winchester Model 1897 pump-action shotgun in 12 gauge. Serial number- E916604. This Model 1897 is in good shape with an excellent bore and was manufactured in 1946. It features a 28" barrel, 2 3/4" chamber, and fixed modified choke. Please refer to the photos for the exact condition of the finish. The Winchester Model 1897 is a legendary American shotgun designed by John Browning. The Model 1897 was a superior slide-action exposed hammer shotgun that was specifically designed for the new smokeless powder. Winchester manufactured just over one million Model 1897 shotguns, with production taking place from July 1897 to September 1957. The 1897 was used in the US military during WWI and WWII, where it became notorious for its slam firing ability. Whether in the hands of a soldier or hunter the Winchester Model 1897 has made its mark on American history. Slam fire capable! Please note that, besides some standard finish wear and minor scratches, there is some pitting on the base of the barrel where it meets the receiver and there is a crack on the forend.
