Zastava M98/48 – 8mm – Refurbished Mauser Kar98k – Made in Yugoslavia – K98

This is a no reserve penny auction for a Zastava M98/48 bolt-action in 8mm Mauser. Serial number- R7347. Receiver with Yugoslavian crest and marked Preduzece 44 and Mod 98 and is a factory rework of a German K98. The bore on this rifle is in fair condition. The Zastava M98/48 (often called Mod.98/48, Model. 98/48, Yugo K98k) was a captured/refurbished Mauser Kar98k bolt-action rifle.

It's Like a German Rifle That Took a Balkan Vacation and Never Came Back. The Zastava Preduzeće 44 Model 98k is what happens when a Mauser 98k gets adopted by a Yugoslav family, starts drinking rakija, and develops a strong opinion about accordion music.

Pros:
– Built like a tractor and just as subtle.
– Surprisingly accurate—if you yell "Tito!" before shooting.
– Bayonet attachment doubles as a kebab skewer at family BBQs.

Cons:
– Bolt feels like it was lubed with gravel and nationalism.
– Smells like cosmoline and bad decisions.
– Sling is probably made from repurposed partisan underwear.

It’s not pretty, it’s not smooth, and it may develop sentience after enough surplus ammo… but dang it, it has personality. Great for collectors, reenactors, and anyone who wants their rifle to double as a blunt-force trauma device and conversation piece.
