For sale is a RARE Norinco 84S-1 Under-folder in 5.56mm! Serial number-324407. Gather round and hear a tale of an extremely rare .223-caliber AK-style semi-auto rifle that was only imported for a single, controversial year. This Chinese Norinco 84S-1 under-folder out of factory 66 is pre-ban with threaded birdcage flash hider, functioning bayonet lug w/Bayonet, and (2) 30 round magazines. CSI Import stamp. The bolt and bolt carrier are in excellent condition… appearing to not have been fired much at all. The bore is bright with sharp rifling. There are four holes drilled into the receiver and appear to have been for an optic rail. The front trunnion, bolt, carrier, top cover and spring all have matching serial numbers, and the original furniture is in good condition. This amazing find comes with the original owners manual, (2) 30-round magazines, canvas sling, and bayonet. This extremely rare under folder version was only imported for a single year in 1989.

These Norincos are known as some of the most well-made AK47’s of all time and are considered the “Rolls Royce” of AKs. With the commercial success of the semiauto Type 56S AK rifles in the US, Norinco looked for other options for export rifles to sell. Given the use of the 5.56x45mm cartridge in the US, an AK chambered for that round was an obvious answer. Norinco did not have the technical data package to make the AK-74, so instead they made their own conversion to adapt the design to the new cartridge (they did the same for the 5.45x39mm round as the Type 88, which was too late to be imported into the US). The result was a rifle with he unique Chinese Type 56 stamped features but chambered for 5.56mm. Six different versions were imported in the few brief years before the assault weapons import ban.
