Manufactured in 1951, this re-finished Model 1897 is in great condition with a PRISTINE bore and some finish wear to the stock and receiver that gives the shotgun more character. It features a 30" barrel with a 2-3/4" chamber. Full choke. Slam fire capable! The Winchester Model 1897 is a legendary American shotgun designed by John Browning. The Model 1897 was a superior slide-action exposed hammer shotgun that was specifically designed for the new smokeless powder. Winchester manufactured just over one million Model 1897 shotguns, with production taking place from July 1897 to September 1957. The 1897 was used in the US military during WWI and WWII, where it became notorious for its slam firing ability.
