Arisaka Type 38 – 6.5mm

Arisaka Type 38 – 6.5mm

$949.00

For sale is an Arisaka Type 38 Carbine bolt-action rifle in 6.5mm. Serial number – 48570. This Arisaka still has the chrysanthemum (with an X scratch over the top of the design) and Japanese Type 38 stamped on the receiver. It comes with a Hooked quillon bayonet with a Tokyo Arsenal or Kokura Arsenal stamp (Depending on the manufacture date of the bayonet). The carbine is in good overall condition considering its age but it is starting to get some surface rust on the barrel and receiver. Please see the photos to determine the condition yourself. This carbine was produced by Kokura Arsenal.

This Type 38 carbine was produced sometime before WWII and was likely used in any of the many conflicts Japan was involved in leading up to WWII. Due to the presence of the chrysanthemum, there is a good chance this was a war trophy sent back to the United States. Most of not all Post War bring backs had the Chrysanthemum filed off. The Arisaka Type 38 carbine is a short version of the Type 38 rifle and was designed in 1905 as a result of the experience gained in the Russo-Japanese War. It has many features of the German Mauser G98 action and was one of the standard weapons used by the Japanese Military forces during the Second World War.
