Ishapore No.1 MKIII * – .303 British

Ishapore No.1 MKIII * – .303 British

$629.00

For sale is a Ishapore No.1 MKIII * bolt action rifle in .303 British. Serial number- 46308. There is a BSA and GRI stamp on the rifle as well as an SA stamp on the stock. This leads us to believe that the rifle was Indian produced rifle. The No. 1 MK III* stamp is also found on the left side of the wrist under the safety rather than the traditional position on the right side of the wrist under the bolt handle. The FR stamp means it was "Factory Refurbished". Please see the photos to assess the condition of the rifle for yourself. Nore the serial on the bolt does not match the receiver there is a repaired chip on the top of the stock. This may be why it got the "Factory Refurbished" stamp. Also, note there is some leftover cosmoline in the receiver and in the bore.

While it is true that the British government adopted the No. 4 Rifle in the late 1930s, production of the No. 1 Rifle continued, with more than 250,000 of them being produced during WWII by the BSA Co. factory at Shirley. In addition, the Ishapore factory in India manufactured more than 600,000 No. 1 Rifles during WWII and continued to produce after the war, while the Lithgow factory in Australia produced more than 500,000 No. 1 Rifles between 1939 and 1945. Still popular across the world the Enfield rifle served across the world when the British Empire stretched globally and is considered by many experts to be one of, if not the best bolt action battle rifle in history
