Marlin Branded National Firearms Co. 1898 – 12ga

Marlin Branded National Firearms Co. 1898 – 12ga

$379.00

For sale is a Marlin Branded National Firearms Co. 1898 in 12ga black powder. Serial number- 111990. This shotgun is in good condition. The Marlin 1898 was an early foray into tube-fed, pump action shotguns, and remains an interesting historical piece because of this. However, the heavy bolt had problems staying in the frame when firing modern, smokeless loads, and some failed, with occasional catastrophic results for the user. It would make a great historical artifact, wall hanger, or museum curiosity. This model is branded National Firearms Company as a trade name used on firearms made for May Hardware Company of Washington, DC and Moskowitz and Herbach Company of Philadelphia, PA. Note: Barrel is mismatched, missing screw on receiver, missing stock end-plate.
