For sale is a Marlin Model 1889 lever-action rifle in .38-40. Serial number- 93480. Mfg in 1893. It is in amazing condition for its age! A hard to find example of a Marlin Model 1889 .38 W caliber lever action rifle. This was a limited production model when it was introduced as Marlin’s first side ejecting rifle until it was replaced by the new Model 1894. One of the more desirable and difficult of the early Marlin rifles to locate. Patent date of 1889 and "38 W" (for .38 Winchester Center Fire AKA .38-40. Marlin didn’t want to mention the Winchester name on it’s products!), correct "MARLIN SAFETY" marking on the receiver top. It appears that it has been refinished at some point. Please refer to the pictures. Also the trigger is a bit stiff and hard to pull.
