For sale is a Remington Rand M1911A1 semi-automatic pistol in .45 ACP. Serial number-1571922. This pistol is in great condition and comes with a WWII leather magazine holster, (2) 7-round magazines. One magazine has a Scovill "S" stamp on the toe, making it a genuine WWII magazine. Ordnance inspector’s mark of Col. Frank J. Atwood. Lt. Col. Frank J. Atwood was the U.S. Army Ordnance officer in charge of war production in the Rochester district of New York from 1942 to 1946 and both the Remington Rand and Ithaca factories were under his control. M1911A1s accepted during that time from those makers will have his FJA mark. Also "P" proof marks. Starting production in 1942, this version as noted by the serial number and the NON-underlined "No." before the serial number, is part of the line Remington had made to be more interchangeable to the other 1911's in production as its earlier production line was not interchangeable with other brands parts to suit the U.S military's needs.
