Little discussion can be had on the subject of American infantrymen in World War Two without the mention of the highly-acclaimed M1 Garand rifle. As the standard infantry rifle of the Second World War GI, the Garand saw combat throughout theaters in Europe with the United States Army and especially in the Pacific with the United States Marine Corps. The M1 Garand served as the standard-issue rifle of the US military during WWII and the Korean War.
Winchester’s M1 production ran from 1941 until June, 1945. In mid. January 1945 Winchester started M1 numbering at 1,600,000. Winchester production of the M1 Garand was terminated by June 30, 1945 at approximately serial number 1,640,000. By the time Winchester ceased M1 production, the company turned out a total of 513,880 Garand rifles as compared to just over 3 1/2 million by Springfield Armory. With a split focus on producing M1 Carbines, M1 Garands, M1898s, and M1912 shotguns, the company could not keep up with the production of some other manufacturers. Add this piece of history to your collection before it's gone! V2-B6 Barrel Length: 24 Bore condition: Good Year Manufactured: 1945
