For sale is an Eddy Stone M1917 bolt-action rifle in .30-06 SPRG. Serial number – 993772. According to serial records, this rifle was manufactured in 1918. This rifle is in great condition, especially considering its age. The bore looks good. The bolt is marked "W"; Barrel is marked "E 8-18"; Safety is marked "E"; Top cover is marked "E"; Bolt release is marked "E";. A bayonet and sling are also included with this rifle. Although the Springfield Model 1903 was the standard issue rifle of the US Army during WWI, the M1917 was the most common rifle carried by American soldiers during the war. The M1917 was designed to be sold to the British Empire during the First World War and is based on the Lee Enfield No.1 Mk III. When the US entered the war it was easy to rebarrel or Model 1917s. While tooling and production of the Model 1903 would take time to expand enough to meet demand for the war in Europe.
