An arquebus is a form of long gun that appeared in Europe and the Ottoman Empire during the 15th century. An infantryman armed with an arquebus is called an arquebusier. Firearms evolved quickly throughout the 16th century. Armies hurried to replace their archers with troops armed with Matchlocks. Caliver patterns or "light" muskets emerged. In the New World the Spanish Conquistadors found their matchlocks had an added shock value when fighting against the Aztecs and other native tribes. The result was the conquest of Mexico. This rifle would be a great addition to any collector! Please refer to the last picture for markings under the barrel. V1-B1 Barrel Length: 28 Bore condition: Good
