For sale is a Remington MLE 1907-15 bolt-action rifle in 8mm Lebel. Serial number- N/A. This rifle is in good condition and comes with a sling. This is a French WWI Mle 1907-15 Berthier Service Rifle made by Remington Arms in 1916. The rifle was part of a canceled contract to build Mle 1907-15 pattern rifles that Remington had with the French Government during WW1. The story of Remington’s attempts to arm the allies during WWI is that they bit off more than they could chew. They were slow in delivery of these rifles to the French and the contract was canceled. Only 10,000-20,000 were produced and only around half of those rifles ever actually made it to France and this one did not. The rifles sent to France received a serial number for inventory records however, due to the fact that the contract was canceled, Remington was left with around 10,000 French rifles that they decided to just sell on the commercial market to be rid of them, is why most Remington Berthier Rifles do not have a serial number. Nonetheless, it is a great example of the Famous French WW1 service rifle and many of them ended up in the hands theFrench Foreign Legion. This is a great rifle for a WW1 collector.
