Remington Model 1894 AE Grade – 12ga

Remington Model 1894 AE Grade – 12ga

$1,499.00

For sale is a Remington Model 1894 AE Grade in 12ga featuring ejectors and a F/F choke set up. Serial number- 115285. This 1894 is in good condition but has some minor chips in the forearm and a small crack in the stock. Comes with the originally offered vintage 11K leather case (end of photo collage shows reference of original catalog listing) which is in poor condition. It is missing stitching and the cover to the case. The finish is rubbing off but the leather is still strong, this would make a great restoration project. For most of the 19th Century, Shotguns had not been a big market for American gun makers, due to the well-developed import trade coming out of England. However, in 1883, U.S. Congress imposed a 35% on imported firearms, and the American arms industry was quick to respond. Remington was America's oldest gunmaker, and had in fact been making top-break double shotguns since 1874, so they were already in production at this watershed moment, and quickly produced a number of different models. After the model 1889, it was clear that the days of external hammer shotguns was over, and they quickly developed the model 1894 to supplant it.
