Remington UMC Model 8 – .300 Savage

Remington UMC Model 8 – .300 Savage

$1,499.00

For sale is a Remington UMC Model 8-A semi-auto rifle in .300 Savage. Serial number- 40901. This rifle is in good condition for its age and appears to have been made in 1918 via a SN reference. It includes the pictured scope. When the .300 was offered in the Model 81, Remington offered a service rebarreling existing Model 8 rifles for the spiffy new cartridge. This rifle is one of those that was re-barreled to .300 Savage. The Remington Model 8 was a beautifully made, if complex and heavy, rifle. Remarkably, in spite of its complexity, it was a very reliable rifle—a hallmark characteristic of John Browning’s designs. In fact, the Model 8 was the first successful autoloading hunting rifle. The most famous Model 8 is the Bonnie and Clyde rifle. This is the rifle carried by former Texas Ranger Frank Hamer, who came out of retirement in 1934 to go after the infamous Depression-era bank robbers Bonnie Parker and Clyde Barrow.
